To me, cents and sense is a framework for making decisions. Cents are the economic costs and benefits of the decisions we make, and sense is about the human factors that go into each of our decisions and actions.
Balance is key here. Cents so that we can make decisions with an eye towards financial security, and sense because we only have a short amount of time on Earth and should enjoy it as much as possible.
Yet, it’s easy to make decisions without consideration to cents or sense. Personal finance isn’t taught in schools, and we’re left to sort it all out for ourselves in the midst of a cacophony advertisements for luxury cars, expensive homes and general merchandise.
With all the distractions out there, and not enough information on how to retain and maximize wealth, more than half of all Americans (per the NY Times) are delaying major life events because of money worries.
Working together, I think we can try to avoid common pitfalls and leverage tools to 10x our savings and investments, and I’m excited by the wealth of investments and knowledge we can create here together.
Here, we can research, share, and brainstorm ways to live long and prosper.
